Risca Community Comprehensive School History

Risca Community Comprehensive is a growing school maintained by Caerphilly County Borough Council. It cares for boys and girls of all abilities between the ages of 11-16 years.

To ensure all pupils have the best opportunities that we can offer, we have structured the school so that all pupils have access to a broad balanced curriculum as well as a wide range of extra-curricular activities, school visits and residential trips. The school has a well deserved reputation as a caring and a purposeful place. Pupils who are relaxed and happy can take a ful and active part in their learning.

The school is on the same site as Risca Leisure Centre. The buildings, which were constructed in 1977, have two main areas. The main block houses the administration and teaching areas for the English, Humanities, Science, Mathematics and Modern Language faculties.

The school was developed under a joint provision scheme, ie the site is used by the general public outside of school hours, and this gives us the benefit of the use of the Leisure Centre facilities during the day. These include an indoor swimming pool, a sorts hall, gymnasium and squash courts.
